Thomas Boardley joins CLIA, Europe

Thomas Boardley will join the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) on October 1st, as secretary general of  CLIA Europe.

 

 

He will play a key part in strategically implementing CLIA programmes across Europe in his new job.

 

 

Boardley is a renowned professional in the global shipping and port industries. In his latest role he held the position of executive vice president, corporate and external affairs, Lloyd’s Register and was responsible for driving the market influence across all its business activities and the development of new external affairs function.

 

 

In 1978 Boardley started his career with OCL, P&OCL, P&O Containers, and latterly P&O Nedlloyd and P&O Ports, for 26 years. Cindy D’Aoust, CLIA president and chief executive said that he will be a welcome addition to their leadership team as it is a dynamic time for the European cruise market. He was looking forward to work with Tom and ensure continued success of the cruise market throughout Europe.

 

 

His pro-bono positions include the chairman of the board of trustees of the Mission to Seafarers and  a visiting professor at Strathclyde University.

 

 

Cruise Lines International Association has more than 15 offices globally with representation in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australasia.CLIA supports more than 26 million passengers who cruise annually in regards to safety, secure, healthy and sustainable cruise environment.
