German National Tourist Board has launched digital voice assistant Alexa in the UK and the US to promote the country.
At market-specific Amazon stores the GNTB travel application is available regionally and is installed on Alexa as Germany Travel Tips.
Under the categories of nature, cultural experiences, active holidays and recreation Alexa provides three tips -48 in all for each of the 16 German states.
Initially Alexa asks the user for their travel preferences and the response is intuitive from one level to the next. This happens until Alexa announces different travel recommendation and tips for holiday in the country which is presented by an audio file.
Petra Hedorfer, chief executive of the GNTB explained that it was predicted by the US market research experts from Comscore that by 2020 , 50 percent of searches will be through language assistance tools.
Digital marketing tools will be the future with Alexa project that will bring innovation, information and bookings channel within destination management.
The latest app will be targeting travel oriented target group between 25-35 years old , they have growth potential and are used to digital applications.
